1. Do you edit all genres?
Yes! My bread and butter is thrillers, mysteries, horror, historical fiction, and all types of non-fiction, though I am happy to work on all genres. I have completed dozens of freelance editing projects in other genres including: self-help, romance, contemporary fiction, and memoir.
2. Do you edit writing projects that aren't book manuscripts?
Absolutely. I am happy to edit all of your writing projects, including full proposals, query letters, blog content, resumes and cover letters, and essays. Please reach out to me with your project description and we can discuss pricing if it's not a standard manuscript.
3. What format should my manuscript or document be in before sending it over to you for edits?
Please submit a Microsoft Word document with 8.5 x 11 standard margins, with the text left-justified. The font size should be 12 point and double spaced. I prefer Times New Roman, Calibri, or Arial.
4. Do you work with writers who want to self publish?
An emphatic YES! My goal is for all writers, whether they're embarking on a self publishing journey or going down the traditional publishing path, to achieve the best manuscript possible for their readers. I love supporting writers achieve their dreams; that's why I started working in publishing!
5. How much do you charge?
Please message me with your total word count and project, and I will provide you with a quote specialized for your project. I have my pricing estimates under the Services tab. I offer "bundle" discounts if you would like me to perform more than one editing service.
6. How do I know you'll deliver good work?
You can always expect clarity, timeliness, honesty, and professionalism. I only take on projects I have the time and capacity for, and because of that, I can promise to do your project justice and give it the time and attention it deserves. Please feel free to read through a sample of my testimonials here.
7. Can we have a call to talk about my project?
Definitely. When I provide you with a quote, I'll also ask if you'd like to set up a complimentary video (or regular) call so we can discuss your project in greater detail. After I've returned edits to you, I'm happy to schedule another call to go over my suggested changes and discuss your manuscript.
8. Do we sign a contract before we start working together?
To protect both you as a writer and myself as an editor, I will send a contract for your review
before I start working on your project. This is standard in the publishing industry. As part of the contract, I will include a deadline chart that shows our various deadlines and payments associated with them. To begin working on your project, I require a 20% up-front charge to reserve your spot.
